John Moriarty, DDS, MS
Raised in Hamlet, North Carolina, Dr. Moriarty received his undergraduate degree in Bacteriology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He continued at UNC School of Dentistry to complete his DDS, MS and post-graduate training in Periodontology.
After graduation, Dr. Moriarty accepted a full-time faculty appointment which included teaching, research and practice. After 28 years, he transitioned to an adjunct professorship and part-time private practice in Cary.
Dr. Moriarty won multiple teaching awards, including the Richard Hunt Award as the outstanding teacher at UNC School of Dentistry in 1995. He served as the Director of the Dental Implant Program in the Department of Periodontology for 19 years and as the Director of Dental Implant Program for the School from 1998 through 2005. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He has and is serving on committees within the School and the AAP. Dr. Moriarty has presented numerous lectures and seminars, nationally and internationally. His wonderful and understanding wife Gail has tolerated him for more than forty years.
